Friends of Faith, Inc. deals with the heart of our trainees. Friends of Faith, Inc. addresses ACE’s and provides trainees with the tools and strategies that promote healing from hurt, pain, frustration, depression and lack of motivation.
Utilizing Protective Factors Framework, Friends of Faith, Inc. provides trainees with the tools and strategies needed to recover from ACE’s.
Friends of Faith, Inc. provides referrals for external conditions (i.e. employment, shelter, food, education, etc.) Friends of Faith, Inc. serves all adults and teens (13+) without the bias of race, color, age, ethnicity, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, marital status, disability, risk level or income in Hammond, Indiana and surrounding communities.
Friends of Faith, Inc. is a positive social connection connecting people within the community to one another, providing concrete support in times of needs with referrals for services; trainings, care packages for Christmas and Basic Necessities to our trainees. It is through those connections and support we are able to encourage people to become resilient then show them how to communicate better socially and emotionally. Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE’s) are stressful or traumatic events, including abuse and neglect. ACE’s may also include household dysfunction such as witnessing or experiencing the following:
Intimate partner violence
Mother treated violently
Substance misuse within the household
Household mental illness
Parental separation or divorce
Incarcerated household member
